Why I do what I do and what that means for you
As I sat outside today surrounded by bags of herbs, I contemplated what would make someone choose to shop with me instead of someone else. The way my spirit moves, I don’t worry much over the why. The right people will find their way to me, and others will choose what is best for them. But the what is what stuck with me. My what is connection, intention, love, and real labor from start to finish. There are days that I spend 14 hour days creating. I do everything from all of my own photography, creating my website, Creating recipes, and descriptions of everything, packing items and shipping everything out, and anything else you could think of.
My preference is to harvest and gather sage and other herbs either from my garden or from some abundance source in nature When possible. I was on my balcony for two hours before I thought about how long it was going to take me to go through all of the sage I had previously gathered on a hike in Topanga Canyon & Palos Verdes, CA. I plan out days to gather herbs and then I spend about 2 hours separating the herbs so that they can dry. After they dry, I cut clippings for my free gift packages. I pick the rest of the sage off the branches and place it in bags to use later in my recipes.
The consistent thing about this process is how connected I am to every bit of what I do from start to finish. I do not pride myself on overworking my body and brain to the point of physical and mental exhaustion. But I pride myself on my effortless attempts to engulf myself In moments of love and creation. I can think of a million other ways to spend 4 hours sifting through herbs for a free gift and aesthetic. However, the love put into the gift is an extension of the love, peace and meditative connection between myself, the universe and my human experience.
I sit on my balcony and I cut herbs while watching the world pass by. It grounds me. I am rarely ever grounded in terms of stillness because my mind is always hyper active. But in these moments, it is slower, it is present, and has nothing else to do accept experience the passive activity.
I am as intentional with myself as I am with the picking of the herbs. I am as gentle with myself as I am when I prune them. So why do I do what I do? Love. In all that I do I am experiencing love and self-care through intention and unintentional meditation practices. What does it mean for you? It means that you will get products handmade and hand-created from natural sources. You will know that it is created with the highest form of love and care. Nothing that I make do I not use or wear myself. Know that everything you have from Keep Me Foreva was made for me, to care for and love on myself. So in many ways, I am caring for you in the same way that I care for and love myself by creating this exchange. What this means is that you are loved.
Love all ways always,
